Smiler is a community built on generating content – our photographers are capturing thousands of photos every hour, for hundreds of thousands of people every year, all in an effort to preserve the moments that matter most.
Our Marketing & Comms Team is looking for someone driven by that same obsessive need to ideate, create and generate. But whereas our community captures and creates photography, our brand needs a real wizard of words and conqueror of content.
As you have noticed with your eagle eye for detail, this role is that of a ‘slashie’ – a Content Manager ‘slash’ Copywriter. In addition to the creation of textual excellence across our various marketing channels, you will also hold a special place in your heart for our product and the content that represents it. Wearing your Content Manager hat, you will ensure that Smiler’s listed locations possess the most up-to-date descriptions, inspiring imagery and terrific translations.
This is more than just making sure pictures are perfect or grammar is great – this role will play a pivotal role in shaping the voice of our brand and the delivery of our message.
You are our resident word nerd, and punctuation perfectionist, and can spot a typo from a mile away. Your so detail-oriented that the fact we purposely misspelt ‘You’re’ at the start of this sentence is personally offensive to you (sorry).
You are also someone who knows it’s better to show rather than tell. Whilst your chosen specialty is copywriting, you’ve got a knack for content and are already thinking this job ad would’ve worked better as a video, infographic or TikTok starring one of our mums.

Enough preamble, here’s what you’ll do with us:
End-to-end management of product page content, including writing, image assets and distribution via our internal CMS and partner / reseller platforms.
Support the Community Management team with the creation of content for the photographer community, including newsletters, videos, infographics and product releases
Play a pivotal role in the development of our content strategy for both consumers and our photography audience and the creation of new video, animation and graphical assets – including scripting, shot lists and data input collection.
Authorship of internally produced blog content, review of externally produced content and identification of keywords, trends and topics.
Work with C-level and Head of MarCom in the development of press releases and editorial brand content.
Support Brand and Digital Marketing team members in creating social posts and content appropriate to channel and audience.
Coordinate translation of all messaging into our core languages for all marketing and functional content & communications (via our centralised translations platform)
Work as resource and/or reviewer of support centre content for both consumer and photographer audiences.
Your experience that gets us excited:
2-5 years in a similar copywriting or content marketing role.
You’ve worked as a creative resource in a fast-paced execution environment (journalistic, creative agency or startup kinda vibe).
Experience writing for a brand in lifestyle, fashion, travel or a similar industry where your words were supporting strong visuals is a big plus for us.
You embrace feedback like the salty-sweet gift that it is.
You are a (near) native English speaker.
Whilst not essential, knowledge of additional European languages would be muy bueno / lekker / wünderbar / tres magnifique.
Willingness to own projects but also comfortable working as a resource.
Your Bachelors or Masters degree in the comms field is the foundation on which you have built your skills. The degree was also probably expensive so you’re keen to use it.
